Meet Lakisha Davis Flagg

My career started in 1992, when I enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. I didn’t know it then, but that enlistment was the first step on a 30-year path of service and leadership in healthcare.
As a young soldier, I noticed early on that there were lots of ‘guides’ on my path – like the Chief Nurse of the hospital who insisted that I take classes at the community college after work, the physicians I supported that challenged me to think outside of the box, and the NCOs who encouraged me to improve my physical fitness and pursue promotion opportunities. Each of them inspired me to get out of my comfort zone – to constantly improve and realize my true potential. By taking the time to invest in me, they demonstrated what mentorship and professional development looked like in real time.

Their investment in me made the difference. I joined the Army as a private and retired as a doctoral-prepared U.S. Army Nurse at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in large part because my ‘guides’ affirmed my potential to achieve more than I could ever imagine at the time.
While in military uniform, I served in a wide range of roles, including Director of Preventive Medicine Services at West Point Military Academy, Director of Public Health Services at Brook Army Medical Center and I was the first ever U.S. Army Nurse to serve as Executive Officer for the U.S. Army Medical Corps Chief.
During my career in Military Medicine, inspired by the leaders who served as ‘guides’ on my path, I committed to supporting others to achieve their goals – whether personal or professional. My heart’s desire was to help other people realize their truest potential. After retiring from active-duty service, I pursued training and coaching certification through Brown University’s School of Professional Studies so that I could support others more effectively.
Today, I am a full-time, certified Leadership & Performance Coach and my clientele includes: individual clinicians, executive (C-Suite) leaders, administrators, doctoral-students, and teams. Their goals and challenges vastly differ but, without fail, I find that all of them endeavor to be better, do better, and ultimately reach their fullest individual and collective potential.
I’m honored to be of service to others in this capacity – partnering with clients to clarify their goals and creating the momentum needed for them to achieve their dreams. And, I look forward to partnering with you.
